Reschedule visit to New Town

Having to push back my house hunting visit until next week due to a surgery in the family.  I can already see what is going to happen.  It will be the very last minute before I get a place to live and get moved in, then I'll be hustling to get lesson plans and experiments set up and will begin the year stressed and exhausted.  AARRRRGGGHHHH!  Gonna have to juggle things better.

Received my letter!

Well, I'm officially hired.  Received my contract letter yesterday to sign and return.  Will be heading down to look for a place to live on Monday.  I will also print out the state curriculum for biology and start looking for experiments to match the standards.  Hopefully, in July, I will be preparing lessons and prettying up my classroom.  And you thought teachers got the whole summer off!  Sometimes I think I work harder in the summer than any other time!

Looks like biology for next year

Finally got the confirmation phone call.  So will officially be teaching biology next year for 9th and 10th grades.  This should be interesting.  I've never had 93 minute classes before.  Supposed to attend the science  training for two weeks so I can get supplies delivered to my class, but haven't heard about it yet.  Not sure if I should start planning my lessons or if I should wait until the training so I know what supplies I will have.  Oh well, either way I'm going to have to get moved, so I guess I should concentrate on that first!

New job!

Got an offer from the first interview I had.  Great news.  Even better, I will only be teaching one subject instead of five.  That means one lesson plan a day, the same experiment so I don't have to keep moving things around, and 93 minute classes, so I will have time to clean up between classes.  On top of which, the beach will only be a couple of hours away!  Now, I need to attend the science workshops to get supplies for this coming year.  Hopefully I will be able to find a sailboat to live on and I can get off-grid.  Things just keep getting better!

Another good interview

Went to another interview today.  It was for an alternative school.  Not sure I want the job, but I really like the principal.  She had a no-nonsense approach to running the school.  Small class size also impressed me.  She will let me know by Friday also.  Got home and had a phone call from another school.  Will call them back tomorrow to schedule an interview.  Hope to get an offer soon.

Interviews have started

Been a pretty good week.  Had an interview yesterday that went well.  A school in south Alabama has a biology teacher opening. They have a biology lab and a chemistry lab.  I would rather teach chemistry, but biology is fun also.  If I get the job, I will have all summer to prepare some very cool activities and read the textbook so I appear to be the foremost expert in biology before the kids figure out I'm a fraud.  On my way home yesterday, I received two more interview opportunities.  Will go to one tomorrow and one on Monday.  Supposed to find out on Friday about yesterday's job.  Hope they call and offer me the position.  I hate interviewing!  Well, going online to apply for some more jobs.  Say a prayer!

Interview scheduled - Yippee!

Had a phone call this morning for an interview on Monday.  I drove over four hours yesterday, arrived here late last night and unloaded, now I have to drive back down south even farther than I was, but, hopefully all will go well and I will be set up for next year.  Everyone, say a prayer!
