Got a tablet today to teach with

In my classroom (I'm going to take a picture of it tomorrow for you to see), I will be using a chalkboard, my desk is missing legs and has the bottom part of a secretary's chair to hold it up.  Every time I open a drawer, it wobbles forward.  But, also have a smartboard, and tablet, so I can walk around the room as I teach instead of having to stay at the computer.  Interesting mix of old and new.  We learned how to work the new smartboards, but not how to work the tablets in a classroom setting.  So, I am playing on it now.  Actually, my son is programming everything into it that I will need:  Facebook, Netflix, Temple Run, Glow Hockey and Nook. Hey, teachers have to have a little fun too! :-)  Oh, and for a quick pic of my new apartment...

Finally moved!

I am officially a resident of this town.  Still unpacking, but plan to get to the school and set things up on Monday.  I'll post pictures of my classroom.  I actually have a chalkboard!  Haven't had one of those in over 7 years.  Still haven't seen my lab, so hoping to do that on Monday, also.  Attended an orientation on Monday that was just training us on the new technology that we won't be able to use until next year.  Figures, eh?  Have another of the same training on the 19th.  I'm still searching for student desks or tables.  Hoping they have me some when I go in on Monday.  On the plus side, they waxed my floor.  :-)

Saw my new classroom!

Just got back from seeing my new classroom.  It is in the old building.  New school won't be finished until March, so it is an old room.  Haven't seen a blackboard in years, but now I actually have one.  There are two student tables and no desks.  On the plus side, my teacher chair is amazing!  I hope no one takes it before I get back there.  I found an apartment a mile from the school, so will be moving on Wednesday.  Once settled in, I'll be working on my classroom and lesson plans for the year.  I did find out that I will only have three classes and a 93 minute planning period.  Looking like this might be the best job I ever had.  Or I might just be over enthusiastic.  I'll keep you posted.
